The Vatican has released a new document, Catholic Approaches to Mining: A Framework for Reflection, Planning, and Action, urging a more humane approach to mining practices. The guide calls on Church leaders, especially bishops and those in pastoral ministry, to harness their capacity to respond to problems associated with mining and bring hope to affected communities. Cardinal Czerny, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, emphasizes the importance of the Church being present to help people “cry out for justice and for care of our common home.” EWTN Vatican Correspondent Valentina Di Donato reports.
