In Jamaica, rescue crews are working to reach more than two dozen communities still cut off since Hurricane Melissa made landfall on October 28. The storm has killed at least 32 people, and officials warn that the death toll could rise as recovery efforts continue. Prime Minister Andrew Holness says preliminary estimates put the damage at around $6 billion. So far, the U.S. State Department has pledged $12 million in disaster relief funding to assist recovery efforts. Mike Bassett, National Director of World Vision, explains how World Vision is among a growing list of international aid agencies and volunteers working independently and with local officials to provide aid.
